Welcome

London Transport Museum Charity Trustees – Introduction from Keith Ludeman - Chair and Elizabeth McKay - CEO

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Trustee of the London Transport Museum.

Following several years of strong recovery across all lines of activity, confidence in a strong team and governance, and optimistic about our charity’s future, LTM reset its strategy for the five years from 2023 to 2028. The first year has been a resounding success.

The new LTM Director and CEO began in August 2023 and outlined a vision to become ‘Future Fit,’ which gave further focus and direction to our work, particularly in the areas of content, experiences, people, and growth to secure our long-term financial sustainability.

Becoming a Trustee provides real opportunities to individuals wishing to make a contribution to our charity and support its mission to preserve London’s transport history and heritage, celebrate and explore the stories of people that shape London, and create experiences that stretch, grow, and inspire the next generation.

As well as the statutory duties required as a charity trustee, you will also be using your specific skills, knowledge and experience to support the Board and the Executive to drive forward the five year strategy and its ambitious priorities and roadmaps.

We are seeking to recruit three new Trustees with expertise in at least one of: digital and technology; finance; curatorial and heritage collections; property and major projects; fundraising and major donor giving. A list of essential skills is outlined under the Candidate Requirements section.

The Museum is a subsidiary company of TfL with charity status (charity no. 1123122). We have a Trustee Board of thirteen, three of whom are nominated by TfL, ten are independent trustees appointed by the Chair including the Museum Director and CEO. The entrepreneurial strategy and activities of the Museum are vested in the Enterprise Board, a subsidiary trading company (company no.6495761) of LTM. We will be recruiting Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) for the Enterprise Board following the appointment of Trustees.

This site details the application process. There is also background information on the organisation and the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Trustees.

We thank you for your interest and look forward to receiving your application. The closing date is MidnightThursday 20 June 2024.
